Crazy Xians and the Muslims they Marry

After watching an episode of Intervention, I became curious about a book one of the parents had written about her marriage to the other.  She was interviewed on the 700 Club, where she lamented on her union.  Her portrayal on the show was a stark difference to the one during the interview.

It looks like she turned a bad marriage and bitter separation into a personal crusade against Islam.  On Intervention, she said that she suspected her husband had some vague links to terrorist activities.  Of course, during the show, she sat next to her ex-husband.

Pat Buchanan - The Great (Anti) Emancipator!!

Pat Buchanan wrote a new book - “Suicide Of A Superpower”! Good thing for us, he really feels the disposition of the people who make up our great country . . . .
Those who believe the rise to power of an Obama rainbow coalition of peoples of color means the whites who helped to engineer it will steer it are deluding themselves. The whites may discover what it is like to ride in the back of the bus.
 . . .
Perhaps some of us misremember the past. But the racial, religious, cultural, social, political, and economic divides today seem greater than they seemed even in the segregation cities some of us grew up in.
Back then, black and white lived apart, went to different schools and churches, played on different playgrounds, and went to different restaurants, bars, theaters, and soda fountains. But we shared a country and a culture. We were one nation. We were Americans.
I love that last sentence - separate, but equal!  Ole Pat's America must have been a glorious place to live (as long as you were white, that is . . . )  Of course we weren't one nation!! I'm guessing that he and like-minded potato-heads would like us all to forget that the 'different' schools, churches, playgrounds and the like were anything but 'equal'.  The Japanese interment camps in the 40's?  Indian Reservations?  Good thing ole Buchanan remembers that all of this meant that we were still all Americans (problem is - his lot would they not be Americans at all . . . )

This is the reason that the far-right-wingers can never hold on to the hearts of all of the conservatives for more than a television season.  You can only apologize so many times for tripe like this.

End the Islam bashing! (Or, clean first thine own house)

I think I have officially become sick of people saying negative and thinly-veiled racist attacks on Muslims.  I think the worst part about it is that the people spouting off really should know better.  Xians and Atheists both!

It's a bit more disappointing from atheists, because I would assume that if they feel so enlightened as to look beyond what man calls 'god' and look at what really is the inner truth, they would see why man is drawn to religion and why someone seeks to identify with what can't be understood through clinical observation.  Believing someone is less intelligent because of their adherence to some deity is elitist.  On the flip-side, believing that an atheist is being condescending (and thus insulting) because they do not believe in god is exclusionary.  Not many xians seem to be willing to discuss their beliefs with someone who says they do not believe.

It seems I've strayed a bit from the point on attacking Muslims - but it is all related.  In the West, Islam has always been considered alien.  And as far as xians and atheists are concerned, there is an old saying that my History teacher in college (a Palestinian) shared with us -
I against my brother;
I and my brother against my cousin.
Seems to describe the situation perfectly!
